DEFINITION

EcoVadis is an assessment and rating system for corporate sustainability performance based on standardised criteria and evidence. Results are provided as scorecards across key areas (environment, labour and human rights, ethics, sustainable procurement).

DeclarationEcoVadis

EcoVadis assesses companies based on policies, actions, and results, as well as external evidence and sector-specific risks. Scorecards support customer/supplier demands, tenders, and supply chain programme management.

In practice, mapping EcoVadis questions against ESRS disclosures (CSRD) and internal metrics is recommended to reduce duplication of effort. A centralised evidence register with clear responsibilities and review cycles improves scores, auditability, and reusability across questionnaires (e.g. CDP).

Key Points

- Assesses environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.

- Document uploads and consistent responses are critical.

- Directly impacts supplier evaluation and contract awards.
